Notice: Lindberg Park Construction

UPDATE – LINDBERG PARK CONSTRUCTION

Posted 2/13/19

Lindberg Park SignPlease be advised that the final phase of construction at Lindberg Park, bringing this multi-phase improvement project to completion, will continue into 2019.  The extensive amount of work included in this final phase was hindered by the excessive amounts of rain and heat encountered over the latter half of 2018, proving it necessary to extend the final completion date to June 14, 2019.

Kobalt Construction has made substantial progress on the project since it kicked off in late June 2018 and continues to work through these winter months as weather permits; however, construction of the new restroom building, pavilion, poured-in-place playground surface, as well as native plantings and final restoration work will likely be on hold until warmer Spring weather.

To date, substantially completed works include the creation of a new Quiet Garden along with a small shelter in the area, the construction of a Pickleball Court, installation of the new inclusive playground equipment, pouring of many of the interior pathways connecting features, and construction of the lay-bys (drop-off areas) within the main parking lot along Lindberg Avenue.

The new inclusive playground, however, will remain closed until the new poured-in-place surface can be installed, but the previously existing play structures will be available for use once the Park reopens for the season in May.  Unfortunately, use of the new pavilion will not be allowed this season before July 1st.

Continuing through the end of this project, for everyone’s safety, we ask for your cooperation in respecting construction zones.  Please use caution when using the park and stay out of areas that are fenced off and restricted where construction activities are taking place.  Parents are also encouraged to share this information with their children, stressing the importance of staying away from and out of fenced, restricted areas.

I thank you for your continued patience, cooperation and support as we bring this construction project to its successful completion.

Thank you,

Cathy Bonaskiewich
Township Manager

Lindberg Park ConstructionPlease be aware that the final phase of improvements to Lindberg Park is scheduled to start in late June, continuing through December 2018.  Construction will take place on weekdays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  This final phase of construction will be quite extensive as we bring this multi-phase improvement project to completion.  Signs will be posted at the entrances to the park to alert residents that construction activities are underway.

Work will include the removal and replacement of the existing pavilion, the construction of a new restroom building, the installation of a new inclusive playground, and accessible pathways connecting the pavilion, the spray pad and the new play features.  Other improvements include a small shelter in the former “blind garden”, a pickleball court, a rain garden and two lay-bys (drop-off areas) within the main parking lot, and native plantings.

There will be no reserved use of the current pavilion allowed this season, as it is slated for demolition.  The new inclusive playground will be closed and fenced off between the pavilion and the basketball courts throughout construction activities, but the existing play structures will remain available for use.  Optimally, we ask that you utilize the Lindberg Avenue entrance to the existing playground at the northwest corner of the park.

The parking lots may be closed to residents for brief periods of time, but one parking lot will always be available for parking during this time.  Two temporary toilet facilities will be provided during construction for public use.  While the majority of the improvements are planned for the west side of the park, the tennis courts, baseball fields and basketball courts should remain open and available for use.

For everyone’s safety, we ask for your cooperation in respecting construction zones.  Use caution when using the park and stay out of areas that are fenced off and restricted where construction activities are taking place.  Parents are also encouraged to share this information with their children, stressing the importance of staying away from and out of fenced, restricted areas.

Thank you,

Cathy Bonaskiewich
