Message Regarding Trash & Recycling Collection
Message Regarding Trash & Recycling Collection
Dear Residents,
Since the beginning of the year, the Township is aware of numerous disruptions in trash and recycling service. We understand the situation can be frustrating, but we are respectfully asking for patience from residents during this challenging time.
As is the case with many businesses, Republic Services has suffered greatly from staffing limitations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and is dealing with equipment failures and difficulties with obtaining new trucks. This situation is not unique to Republic Services, nor is it unique to Salisbury Township. Other trash hauling providers are also struggling with these same issues, and residents in other municipalities are facing similar issues.
As a reminder, if your trash or recycling does not get picked up, please contact the Township office at 610-797-4000 to report the miss as soon as possible, and Republic Services should recover it the following day. In addition, if Republic Services informs the Township of missed streets, we will communicate the information with residents via the Township’s website as well as email notifications.
Please be assured that the Township staff is in constant communication with the management team and dispatch office at Republic Services and we are actively working with them on a resolution to this on-going matter. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Smoke Testing to be Conducted
Smoke Testing to be Conducted
In the Township’s on-going efforts to address and reduce Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) into the sanitary sewer system, Phases Two and Three of smoking testing will be conducted by Keystone Consulting Engineers during the months of June and July 2021. The work will take place in the Eastern portion of the Township, specifically in the Basin 10 area. The impacted areas include the streets north of Emmaus Avenue from Cypress Avenue to Tweed Avenue and extending up to East Federal Street, as well as streets south of Emmaus Avenue from Woodside Court to Hillcrest Avenue. Door-hanger notices will be provided to residents and business owners at least 72 hours prior to the smoke testing in your area. Your patience and cooperation during this sanitary sewer testing project are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Township’s Engineer, Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc., directly at 610-395-0971.
